- BOATS (Behaviour, Observation, Assessment & Teaching Strategies) — by Dawn Rife — last modified 2008-03-07 16:09
- BOATS is a resource funded by the Special Education Council of The Alberta Teachers' Association with support from Alberta Education. This practical resource is designed to help teachers effectively deal with behaviour challenges of students in today's classrooms. Teachers, teams, consultants and administrators can use BOATS to gather sufficient information to determine the function of a student's misbehaviour and use that information to develop effective behaviour support plans. This resource has been updated (2007) to include an index and information on evaluating the quality of behaviour support planning. This resource is an excellent support for teachers working with students identified with a mild, moderate or severe behaviour disorder. It also supports and is based on research that supports effective behaviour support (EBS) systems.
